|Response to "People: Nurture and Nature"
Chicago must be way ahead of the rest of the big cities in their efforts. I'm going to use several of the concepts your article embodies here at the Library, in my monthly column and in our displays of books. Hope this gets a wide viewing. Marty Frick, Westcliffe, Colorado
Reposnse to "Strange Breed"
I read with interest your article A Strange Breed. A few years ago I enjoyed seeing (David) Breashear's IMAX movie on climbing Everest. I have climbed several "14ers" in Colorado and have been to the Base Camp (Kalapathar) of Everest. It was all fun, but I never could understand the extreme risks undertaken by people who climb Everest without oxygen or climb Colorado's legendary Long's Peak in winter. Why do they risk their whole future and lives for no good reason? Your article helped me understand the quirks, motives and attitudes of these fanatics.
